Conduct

Conduct:

In any form of martial arts conduct is paramount, or chaos will ensue. Our conduct is derived from Sifu Keaka’s background and lineage in the martial arts, that being Shaolin Kung Fu. The school is a place one enhances Body – Spirit – Mind – Skill. Give of yourself to all students and take nothing from them, only knowledge and understanding embodied through compassion.

Lineage, Knowledge & Honor

In traditional martial arts, heirarchy is everything. This goes so far as to starting a class paying tribute to those who have passed their knowledge down. This is why you see photos of old asian guys on the classroom or “dojang” wall. We honor them before teaching as a way of saying thanks and staying true to the form they perfected and passed down.

Teacher/Instructors/Sifu

The “Sifu” is the head individual and normally the owner of the “dojang.”

You in the Hierarchy

Even “newbies” become part of the school heirarchy, as it is not your age, but rather, how long or in which order you began at the dojang.

Respect

It is imperative that respect is in the forefront of your mind and actions at all times. This is observed as a “humility” in how you approach others. Once you engage… your LISTENING (never socialize during class) should always be at 100%. It will often be many months, even years before you will have acquired the skill to direct others. This direction and guidance will begin as others that have less experience than you come onto your radar. But be gentle, remember how vulnerable you felt when you began this journey.
